AIDA AGM 2023

The 2023 AIDA Annual General Meeting will be held at 4 pm on Saturday 15th April at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall. Hear about the year’s activities, consider AIDA’s updated Aims and Objectives, nominate for the committee, pay your 2021 subscription or join AIDA. Links to the AGM documents are provided below.

We have invited our local Surf Coast Shire Councillors, Libby Stapleton, Mike Bodsworth and Gary Allen, and the Shire’s CEO Robyn Seymour to join us to update us on Council activities that are relevant to our area. There will be an opportunity for questions to our shire representatives.

One of AIDA’s successes this year was to receive a Council grant to get WiFi installed in the hall. We will use this for a Zoom link. However, we are not sure whether we will be able to set this up to allow members to participate in the meeting or to have vision as well as audio. Members wanting to be sent the link should register their interest by emailing aida.aireys@gmail.com You will be sent the Zoom invitation a few days before the AGM.

The committee hopes to see as many of you as possible in person at the meeting and encourages you to attend. We are providing members who cannot attend in person the opportunity to be involved via a proxy vote, for which the form is attached here AIDA AGM 2023 Proxy Form. Please either scan or photograph your completed proxy form and email it to aireysinletdistrict@gmail.com or post it to PO Box 359, Aireys Inlet, Vic 3231. Any questions you would like to have raised for you during the meeting can be sent prior to the meeting to the addresses above or attached to your completed Proxy form.

To inform your votes, links are provided to access the AIDA AGM 15April2023 AGENDA, the minutes of last year’s AGM AIDA AGM 23APRIL2022 MINUTES, our AIDA 2022 Annual Financial Statement, and AIDA’s 2023 Updated Aims and Objectives.

If you are interested in discussing the possibility of nominating to join the AIDA Committee, please contact our President Charlotte Allen at aireysinletdistrict@gmail.com. The Nomination Form can be accessed here AIDA Committee Nomination Form 2023 and submitted via the methods outlined above. The nomination form also list the members who have already nominated or renominated for the committee.

Following the AGM we are very pleased that Krystal de Napoli, Gomeroi woman and astrophysicist, who spoke at our Dark Sky event in September, has agreed to return to Aireys to tell us more about the night sky and how First Peoples have understood and used the night sky. We are sure that members who were at the Dark Sky Event will look forward to hearing more from Krystal – and those who were not at the event will welcome the opportunity to hear from her. Krystal’s co-authored book Astronomy: Sky Country recently won the People’s Choice award in the 2023 Premier’s Literary Awards. She will have copies of the book at the AGM for members to purchase and have signed.

All are welcome!
