Walks starting from the Moggs Creek Picnic Area

The Moggs Creek picnic area is reached by turning inland from the Great Ocean Road at the bridge over Moggs Creek. After about 50 m, turn left into Old Neuk Road. Follow this road until after it bends around to the right, then turn left into Boyd Avenue and follow the unmade road to the picnic area.

Three walking tracks lead off from this area:

The Nature Walk (1.8 km circuit)

A short walk rich in birdlife, following Moggs Creek across a number of small wooden bridges.

The Ocean View Track (4.5 km, 1.5 hr circuit)

A walk though dry woodland and coastal heathland is further rewarded by spectacular coastal views to the Split Point Lighthouse, the Fairhaven and Eastern View beaches and across to Lorne. On the map above, this track is the green dotted loop south east of the picnic area.

The view from the lookout along Eastern View beach to Cinema Point and to Lorne in the distance

Track to Distillery Creek Picnic Area (7.5 km one way)

A strenuous walk follows a firebreak track to the Painkalac Dam before continuing through ironbarks and other eucalypts behind Aireys Inlet towards the Distillery Creek Picnic Area. On the map above, this track is the green dotted line numbered 5.
