AIDA is progressing its application to Dark Sky International (DSI) for the area to become a designated Dark Sky Community. The Surf Coast Shire has given its support and is developing a shire-wide lighting policy that meets the DSI standards. Letters of support have also been received from many local community groups and tourism interests.
Achieving accreditation is lengthy process but it will have significant environmental and economic benefits.
